Makala Bascome teaches at the Alaska Flute Studies Center in the Turnagain Arts Building, Anchorage. She can be reached through the Alaska Flute Studies Center.Makala Bascome - Flute Instruction
Makala Bascome has been playing flute for over 8 years. She has performed with numerous ensembles in the Anchorage area including the Service High School Symphonic Band where she was 1st chair. Makala has been performing with the Arctic Wind Flute Choir program since 8th grade, first with the Junior Flute Choir and currently with the advanced Arctic Wind Flute Choir. Makala was a member of the Anchorage Youth Symphony where she played flute and piccolo and the 2010 All-State Band during her senior year of high school. Along with playing in these elite ensembles, Makala’s performing opportunities have included concert tours to Hawaii, England, Scotland, China, and just recently New Zealand. Makala is very devoted to music and has been teaching flute players in the 6th grade bands at elementary schools since her junior year in high school. Apart from music, Makala is working towards a BS in biochem. After finishing her degree she plans to attend medical school. In addition to school and music, Makala works two jobs, one as a file clerk at a pediatric office, the other is as a hostess at Sourdough Mining Company. During the rare moments of free time, Makala enjoys relaxing and taking a break from her very busy schedule. |
