Sue Riehle - Teacher/Conductor

Sue Riehle went to school at Moorhead State University in Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor's degree in instrumental music education, majoring on alto saxophone, clarinet and conducting symphonic bands and small ensembles. The following year, she continued master's level studies with a focus on music education and woodwinds before moving to Alaska to teach music at Homer Junior/Senior High School. Over the years, Sue has taught privately, conducted an adult community chorus, and played in various small ensembles. She recently returned from living in New Zealand for six years, where she taught privately and started several instrumental ensembles in Far North, North Island. In addition to saxophone and clarinet, Sue plays recorders and keyboards. She enjoys all styles of music, but has a particular passion for jazz and early music (music written before about 1750). Her fervent belief is that when it comes to music education, it's never too late to start!
