Northwind Flute Choir

The Northwind Flute Choir is part of the Alaska Flute Studies Center (a member of the non-profit Turnagain Community Arts Alliance). The flute choir program is for adult, flute enthusiasts who are looking for an exclusive ensemble with which to play. There are no auditions required. The sessions will include rehearsals of flute choir repertoire and instruction on fundamentals of performance. The program is designed for individuals who are looking to blow the dust out of their instruments and start playing again!

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are at the home of Laura Koenig. Address and directions will be provided when we receive your registration.

Turnagain Arts Building, 4105 Turnagain Blvd, (Spenard and Turnagain).

Fall Session 2007:
Oct. 8, Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Dec. 3 (7:30 - 9:00 p.m.)

Winter Session 2008:
Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, Mar. 3, Mar. 17 (7:30 - 9:00 p.m.)

Spring Session 2008:
Mar. 31, Apr. 14, Apr. 28, May 12, May 19 (7:30 - 9:00 p.m.)

There will be informal performances scheduled when it is appropriate for the group.

Tuition

$85.00 per quarter for members of the Alaska Flute Studies Center
$100.00 per quarter for non-members
$20.00 per session drop-in fee

Tuition is payable to the Alaska Flute Studies Center and is non-refundable.

Participants need to bring their flutes, music and a pencil to every rehearsal. All music, black concert folders for rehearsals and performances will be provided. We will focus on learning a substantial amount of repertoire and will be stressing the essentials of performing in an ensemble (intonation, balance, blend and musical expression.)
