The Alaska Flute Studies Center (AFSC) is a membership organization for all flutists from beginning students to professionals. It is a resource center that provides education and performance opportunities for flutists of all levels, plus it serves as a support network with publicity for concerts and events, referrals for teachers, promotion of special classes and general information. The Alaska Flute Studies Center offers student flutists the highest quality educational and performing opportunities. Students in grades 6-12 may audition for the Arctic Wind Flute Choir, Arctic Wind Junior Flute Choir or the Arctic Wind Preparatory Flute Choir. Classes in the basics of flute performance are offered through the "Simply Flute" series. AFSC sponsors the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music music theory exams three times annually. The Northwind Flute Choir for adult amateurs will begin its third season. Plus there will be masterclasses and specialty workshops throughout the year. Tuition for all classes is at a reduced rate for AFSC members. The AFSC music lending library is available to members by appointment. The library includes an extensive collection of solo and ensemble repertoire, plus books, periodicals and resource material on flutes and flute playing. The annual fee for membership in the Alaska Flute Studies Center is $25.00 for adults and $15.00 for students. (More Information, Membership form .)
